The municipality of Zignago is located in the upper Vara valley and lays claim to several mountains like the Monte Dargnone and Monte Zignago, as well as 8 villages and a long-stretching valley.
The main village is called Pieve and it is at the same time the headquarters of the municipality, contains the ancient church of San Pietro Apostolo. Other villages are Vezzola, where remains of Stone Age men were found, Debbio - from where one can have a lovely view of the Vara valley and Lunigiana, Sasseta and Imara, a small village amongst chestnut forests. Also part of the same are Valgiuncata with the tower house "del marchese", Torpiana, the largest of the 8 villages, which together with its colored houses possesses that typical ligurian charm, and Serò with its narrow lanes and numerous stone houses.
