In the village centre of the small dreamy ligurian village of Torria, lies Case Leone (pedestrian zone). Torria is encircled by olive groves, and is about 25 minutes away from the bustling harbour city of Imperia, with its many restaurants, bars, beaches and shops. Back in Torria, in the middle of town, there is the excellent restaurant “La Remissa”, which will absolutely spoil you with it indigenous specialities. The traditionally furnished Casa Leone offers you comfortable temperatures, even in summer, due to its thick stonewalls. On the main floor, there is a well-equipped kitchen, a large living room, with a dining area and pull out sofa, and the bathroom. Upstairs, you will find the two bedrooms and a small balcony, with a fantastic view of the Impero valley and the foothills of the Alps. Starting from Torria, you can expect to find many pathways, perfect for tours by foot, or mounted on a bike, leading through the ligurian backcountry.

The ancient town of Chiusanico lies on a ridge, where oak and chestnut woods alternate with hills covered with olive groves. According to a tradition that is corroborated by some researchers, this was the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, although there is no general agreement among historians.

Torria is quietly located on a mountaintop above Chiusanico / Pontedassio, about 25 minutes from the sea and Imperia. It has a superb panoramic view of the valley. Torria offers some works of art that are well worth seeing: the drinking-trough beneath a sixteenth-century loggia, a bas-relief dated 1477 in the parish church of San Martino, the oratory of the Disciplinati della Santissima Annunziata and the sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve. This district is the venue for a biennial photography competition; the sports complex is equipped for fencing competitions.

You can take the path leading from an ancient stone wash-house in Torria and make your way up to the sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve and, passing through the woods, continue on to the San Giacomo pass and Monte Arosio.



A small grocer’s and two good restaurants are located nearby.

Just below Gazzelli, you can purchase the much awarded “Rocca di San Nicola” wine straight from the vineyard (Vermentino and Pigato). Excellent olive oil is also available, which is free of pesticides because it has been grown at altitudes above 400 m. This is also where lots of hiking or mountainbike trails start.
